giving podcasting a try
I'm in the works of planning my podcasting lesson plan, which I actually have a plan to implement next week. My school is actually participating in a podcasting pilot program, and I was more than excited to volunteer to participate! My plan is to have my students create anti-drug advocacy podcasts. I'm thinking that they can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the type of message they want to send. I just have one question. How do I allow students to work and record their podcasts with 40 students in one classroom without too much noise? Hmmm......

Hey Jen, I like your idea. I used a similar idea but using digital video with student performing their original anti-drug song. When it came time for recording I turned the classroom into a "recording studio" and discussed with students the purpose of a recording studio and how important it is to have silence when recording, etc. One group entered the studio at a time while others were in the back hallways, the next classroom, and the locker rooms practicing their routine until recording time.I was lucky to have very trusting students for this experience; I didn't have to worry about them goofing off or doing something they shouldn't be and I believe it was because they were doing something they believed in and were emotionally invested in. It worked very well and my students were super at being quiet... Perhaps you can use my experience to help out with deciding how to record each groups podcasts. Good Luck!
